Review Short Movie: “My Shoes”

 

An inspirational short movie directed by Nima Raoofi, the title is “My Shoes” released in 2012. This short movie was nominated for an International Short Film Festival. There is a meaningful message or lesson that teaches the viewers to always be grateful for everything we have.

This short movie tells the story of a boy who has a broken shoe. He feels sad about his situation and is also ungrateful for everything he has and is tired of his own destiny. He saw a boy in his fine shoes sitting around where he was. Then he compared himself to the boy and wished he could be like the boy.  Not long after, something unexpected happened. His wish to be like the boy was granted. But he still felt sad and even he regretted his wish. Why can? It is answered at the end of the story.

This short movie is starred by two actors, both of whom are boys. Both actors are deeply immersed in their respective roles. The expressions they play are in accordance with the roles they play. In addition, the background music that supports the atmosphere makes this short movie able to bring the audience into a sad mood. The storyline is well presented and interesting. The two characters in this short movie do not do any dialogue. Although there is no dialogue in it, the message contained in this short movie can be conveyed well.

We recommend this short movie for everyone. Because this short movie reminds us that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and opens our minds as viewers to not always look to one side, because there are many other sides that we should be grateful for.

Seorang ibu memukul nyamuk di telapak kaki anaknya saat sedang tertidur.
